About Me

I was born and raised in Winthrop, Washington on the east slope of the North Cascades mountains in North Central Washington. I started skiing as soon as I could walk, mostly on alpine skis at first but eventually shifted to more nordic skiing because I could ski right out my back door. My mom got me started in biathlon when I was 10 years old to keep my interest in skiing. I continued biathlon and skiing through high school but my main focus was on skiing and doing well at Junior Nationals. My senior year of high school I qualified to compete in the Youth World Championships where I traveled to Sweden to represent the United States. After high school I moved to Montana where I attended Montana State University and was part of the NCAA ski team. After my first semester I realized that I could have lots of success as a biathlete and so I became a full time athlete. Since then I have been both a student athlete and full time athlete. I am now a member of the Maine Winter Sports team living in northern Maine, taking classes from the University of Maine at Fort Kent, and training hard trying to reach my goals of racing on the world cup circuit and winning an Olympic medal.

I credit much of my success to my strong work ethic that I developed growing up and working on our family sheep ranch. Besides skiing and biathlon I enjoy hiking and adventuring in the mountains, backcountry skiing, mountain biking, and snowmobiling.
